TRYON– R.C. Heatherly, 75, of Tryon passed away, Saturday morning, October 9, 2021, at his home after a long illness.
Born in Henderson County, he was the son of the late General Heatherly and Roxie Reece Heatherly and husband of the late Jane Roper Heatherly who passed away in 2017. Mr. Heatherly was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Pacolet Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Heatherly and Billy Heatherly. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Jane Neal (Bill) and Jo Ann Newman. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and a friend and caregiver, Joyce Pierce.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in Polk Memorial Gardens with Pastor Chad Bowen and Pastor Randy Darley officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
