He was the son of the late Troy Brannon and Roena McSwain Smothers.

He was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, and Hoechst Celanese, he was also a member of V.F.W., American Legion.

He left behind a step-mother, Lillian Brannon; a companion, Darlyn Pierce; five children, Wendy Nix, Jenny Robbins, Clarice and Lyle Kirian, and Cindy Carter; a brother, Norm Brannon, wife Marion and their son and his family Douglas Brannon; a brother, Troy D. Brannon, companion Judy Collins and his two sons, Terry and Patrick; a half brother, Billy Smothers and wife Lynn; a half sister, Diane Walker and husband Ron, and a half brother, Dennis Brannon and wife Carmen; eight grandchildren, Jacob Carter, Tyler Workman, Radd Robbins, Katelyn Carter, Ryan Workman, Cassie Kirian, Jessica Brannon and Daniel Hellams.

He was predeceased by wife, Mardi Brannon; a daughter, Leslie Brannon; step-father, Gilbert Smothers; a half sister, Norma Jean Sheehan and a niece, Colleen Brannon.

The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.

The family will be gathering at his home at 185 Edgewater Road, Inman, S.C. from 3-8 p.m. on Friday.
