Landrum– Helen Trout Johnson entered the heavenly kingdom on June 5, 2023. She was born June 3, 1940, to Oliver and Golden Trout of Grambling, SC. Helen was a faithful member of Landrum First Baptist Church where she served as a teacher for Children’s Sunday School, Mission Friends, Girls in Action and Vacation Bible School. In addition, she was the director for the Women’s Missionary Union, Sunday School, Senior Adults Sunday Division, and Senior Adults Encourager’s Program.

Helen was a graduate of Chapman High School and Limestone College. She taught Home Economics at Landrum High School for several years before leaving to take care of her family. She returned years later and worked as an assistant in the guidance office. She gave many years to volunteering with Hospice, Meals on Wheels, and PTO. Additionally, she served on the Spartanburg County Library board, Landrum Chamber of Commerce, Landrum High School Improvement Counsel, and Landrum Youth Sports League. Helen married Clyde S. Weaver in 1963. She stood faithfully beside him until his death in 1994. She later married William E. Johnson. They were married for 15 years until his death in 2014.

Left behind to cherish her memories are Cindy W. Bloom (Charles) of Blythewood SC and Brian I. Weaver (Cameron) of Pisgah Forest, NC. Four grandchildren; Lindsey and Maxwell Bloom of Blythewood, SC and Judson and Cooper Weaver of Pisgah Forest, NC. Sisters, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law include Dru White (Gene), Ruby Bailey, Lorene Trout, Paul Morrow, and Brenda McAbee (Jimmy), and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Oliver Trout, Jr. (Jo), George Melvin Trout, Barbara Morrow, John David Trout (DeAnna), and Lucille Young.

The family will have a private burial at a later date. Donations in Helen’s memory can be made to Landrum First Baptist Church, 300 E Rutherford Street, Landrum SC 29356.
