Matthew Eric Greenway, 40, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, passed away surrounded by family and friends on March 7, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his very special friend, Stacie Garrison of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; his parents, Brad and Melanie Greenway of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; his sister, Amanda Greenway and her husband Jesse Bender of Fairview, North Carolina; his grandparents, Thomas and Ruth Greenway of Green Creek, North Carolina; and many beloved uncles, aunts

and cousins.

Matthew especially loved his fur babies, Catalina and Banjo.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, James A. Johnson and Ruby M. Johnson of Polk County, North Carolina.

Matthew was employed by American Airlines at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in

Charlotte, North Carolina. He considered his co-workers his second family, and they were a constant source of strength and comfort during his life and his illness. He was also co-owner of G 2 Soaps in Lake Wylie, South Carolina.

Matthew will be best remembered for his compassion and for his unfailing sense of humor.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Monday March 12, 2018, at Spencer Baptist

Church in Spindale, North Carolina, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends after the service.
