Again, Landrum’s women launched a balanced attack, and defeated another varsity basketball opponent. On Tuesday, Jan. 30, the Cardinals topped St. Joseph’s Catholic, 64-38, to raise their season mark to 17-3, while upping their region mark to 6-1.

Only Christ Church Episcopal (6-0) stands between the Cardinals and a region title. On Jan. 16, CCE defeated the Cardinals 49-31.

“We play Christ Church on Friday,” reminded Cardinals’ head coach Deon Brice. “That is our only region loss, so this will be a big game for us. If we can win the next three games we will be tied for first and have to have a playoff game with Christ Church.”

On Tuesday, Lindsey Hardin scored 15 to lead the Cardinals (she led all scorers) over St. Joe’s, with teammates Rachel Lanford (10), Ellen Boatwright (10), Sarah Harris (nine), Bailey Butler (eight), Makena Israel (four), Marah Israel (two) and Caroline Bishop (two) rounding out the offense.

Hardin, who scored 33 in the Cardinals’ recent win over Blacksburg (at the time, ranked third in the state), was last week’s HJ Player of the Week.

This Friday’s contest against CCE will be at Landrum. Game is set to begin at 6 p.m.
