Capt. Noah Webster Gokey III (Ret.)

Capt. Noah Webster Gokey III (Ret.), 90, of Columbus, N.C. passed away Aug. 24, 2015 in Tryon Estates, Columbus N.C.

He was born in Jamestown, N.Y., to the late Noah and Allene Gokey. He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1947 and retired as a Captain from the U.S. Navy in 1977, after 34 years of service. Capt. Gokey moved to Polk County in 2007 from Melbourne, Fla. He was an avid tennis player and a member of the Tryon Presbyterian Church. His smile and his hugs will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are two sons James Gokey (Lynne) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Daniel Gokey (Libby) of Landrum, S.C., and one daughter Patricia Gokey of Campobello, S.C. Also surviving are two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Anne Mitchell Gokey who died in 2013.
