Polk youth football 2nd in Rocky Top tourney

Both Polk County Youth Football teams, the PeeWees and the Mitey Mites took second place in the Battle of the Rocky Top tournament, played in Knoxville, Tenn. the weekend of Saturday, Nov. 23.
The tournament is considered the largest youth football tournament in the country, with more than 250 teams competing in various age groups.
The PeeWees lost 30-16 to the Carter Hornets in the championship game for the 12 and under United division. The Mitey Mites lost to the Newport Roosters 14-6 in the eight and under division. Both Polk County Youth Football teams took big wins to make it to the championship games.
Polk County’s Mitey Mites defeated the Jefferson County Patriots 28-6 to reach the championship round. To move into the semifinals, the Mitey
Mites won over the East Central Trojans 28-0 then grabbed a close game against the Farragut Admirals 30-28.
The PeeWees beat the Nocholasville Panthers 40-0, then beat the Bledsoe County Warriors 48-16 to advance to the championship game.
