Jeanne was born July 2, 1918 in Detroit, Mich., to Myrtle and Alexander Hamilton of Pleasant Ridge, Mich. In December 1941, she married Russell Gratner and after the war, they made Royal Oak, Mich., their home for many years. They retired to Columbus, where they lived on Holly Hill from 1971 to 1991. Russell predeceased Jeanne in March of 1996, in Salem, Ore. Jeanne returned to the North Carolina she loved to reside in Tryon from 1997 through 2004 at White Oak Manor. She spent the past five years in southern California near family.

Throughout her life, Jeanne pursued artistic interests. She enjoyed pastels, oils and watercolor to create landscapes and portraits. She contributed illustrative work to the Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Mich., for years. She was active with the Tryon Painters and Sculptors while living in North Carolina. She loved encouraging young people to develop their artistic talents as well. She and Russell were members of the Tryon Country Club, where they enjoyed golf and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. Jeanne was a member of the Tryon Presbyterian Church. &bsp;

Surviving are her daughters, Karen Buza of Salem, Ore., and Kristin Crocker of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and five grandchildren.
