Born Jan. 20, 1923, in Union, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Fred Wallace and Cora Epps Sparks and the wife of the late M. H. (Mac) Shealy.

She was a 1943 graduate of Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. Following World War II, the family lived in Gaffney, S.C., and Elizabeth City, N.C., where she was a homemaker. In 1960, the family returned to Spartanburg, and she began work as a Registered Nurse at Spartanburg General Hospital, working as a floor nurse and in the recovery room. In the mid-1960&squo;s she worked as an industrial nurse at Arkwright and Cateswood Mills; and in 1971, she became the nurse at Arrow Automotive until her retirement in 1984. After retirement she and her husband spent time at a home in the Florida Keys before returning permanently to Campobello in the mid-1990&squo;s. She loved music, and her handiwork of arts and crafts filled their home. She was a member of Campobello First Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday School teacher there and at other churches.

She leaves three sons, Mac Shealy, Jr. of James Island, Ken Shealy of Spartanburg, and David Shealy of Campobello; two sisters, Margaret Powell of Spartanburg, and Evelyn Wilburn of Newberry; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Floyd&squo;s Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at

2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Floyd&squo;s Greenlawn Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
