Born in Detroit, Mich., he attended the University of Michigan and Michigan Technological University, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. His education was interrupted during WWII by service in the U.S. Army Air Forces, where he attained the rank of captain. Most of his working career was with Scott Paper Company in Philadelphia.

Mr. Tidman is survived by his wife, Louise; three sons, Stan and wife Toni, Mike and wife Corey, and Dave; three grandchildren, Casey, Scott and Matt and two step-grandchildren, Daniele and Dax; a sister Jean Dehn; a niece and nephew, Jeanette and Dick.
