She was a native of Greenville, S.C., and lived in Henderson County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Ester Pruitt Clayton and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, two brothers and five sisters.

She was a member of Mountain Home Baptist Church, was a former housewife and later in life quilted for family and friends.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Clayton Williams of Hendersonville and Irene Edwards of Greer, S.C., and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Mountain Home Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Landreth and Rev. Craig Garren officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
