Robert Lyon

Robert Lyon, 98, of Blanton Street, Columbus, N.C. died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his home.

Born in Syracuse, N.Y., he was the son of the late James and Eva Sanderson Lyon. He was the widower of Ethel Sanderson Lyon who died in 2006.

Mr. Lyon was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in WWII.

He retired after 31 years of service from Bristol Laboratories, Syracuse, N.Y.  He moved to Polk County in 2007 coming from Mint spring, Va.  He was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ, Tryon.

Surviving are: a son, Douglas R. Lyon of Columbus; a daughter, Mary L. McCall (Donald) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandchildren, Scott McCall and Mindi Zimmer and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia Lyon and Cathy Lyon.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
