The Cardinal Television Crew and Landrum Middle School library assistants toured the WYFF News Studio in Greenville on Wednesday, February 3. Lee Brown, the Assistant News Director at WYFF who is a Chapman High School graduate and resident of District One, hosted the group.

Students visited the news studio during the noon broadcast. They were taken into the control room at the beginning of the broadcast and the studio for the end of the program.

Students got to stand behind the camera operators while Dale Gilbert gave the weather forecast using a green screen and Kim McCrea, the anchorwoman, completed the newscast. McCrea and Gilbert were very accommodating to the students, talking with them during the commercial breaks and after the broadcast, as well as commenting on their excellent behavior while in the studio.

This was a wonderful opportunity for the students to observe various careers in television broadcasting. District One offers a program in video production through Swofford Career Center. These students got first-hand experience and may decide to follow video broadcasting as a career.
