Local vineyard to host 5k fundraiser to fight breast cancer

On Saturday, Oct 23rd 2021, Parker-Binns Vineyard will be hosting its first annual Trotting for TaTas 5k and Ultramarathon fundraiser. Go-Green will be timing the race for free with any donations and profits from hosting the 5k race going directly to The Foundation for St. Luke’s Hospital’s 3D Mammography project. This device will greatly improve St. Luke’s healthcare provider’s ability to detect and diagnose breast cancer earlier than the current mammography system in use.

This event is inspired by one of the owners, Karen Parker-Binns, who is a breast cancer survivor, and is overjoyed to host this annual event right between the vines of her family owned and operated vineyard!

The all-day event will be held at Parker-Binns Vineyard at 2275 Whiteside Rd, Mill Spring, NC 28756 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. The race will take place on a trail/gravel loop that takes you on a beautiful run or (walk) around the 40-acre Vineyard property with grapevines as the interior and plenty of fresh mountain air your lungs will love.

All 5k finishers will receive a glass of wine and all ultra finishers will receive a bottle of Parker-Binns wine. Camping is available on both Friday and Saturday nights at the Vineyard. Join us all day for wine, food, and fun! As a bonus, listen to Beau Beaumont play your favorite classic rock, country, beach and blues tunes from 3-6 p.m.

In addition to any donations made, Parker-Binns Vineyard will be selling pink Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets for the entire month of October. All bracelet proceeds will be donated to The Foundation for St. Luke’s Hospital. For more information or to sign up, please visit https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/MillSpring/VineyardTrailRace
