Polk names new road as Heavenly View Lane

COLUMBUS—Polk County named a new road last week. 

The Polk County Board of Commissioners met last week and agreed to name a new road in Columbus Heavenly View Lane. 

Commissioners previously held a public hearing about new road names with no public comments. 

The county approved amendments to its road-naming ordinance in recent years, so some unnamed roads in the county are now being named to comply with the ordinance. 

Since the county adopted amendments to the road-naming ordinance, 911 addressing requires that roads be named and addressed. County fire departments are alerted once the roads are named for emergency addressing purposes. 

Residents can petition the county to have a private road named, and give suggestions on what the name will be. 

The latest road name had the suggestions by the property owner of Heavenly View Lane, Nichols Parkway or Sunset Terrace Lane. Property owners can give 3 suggestions and commissioners make the choice of what the road name will be.
