Tryon Painters and Sculptors (TPS) opens a new show, Razzle-Dazzle, with a reception on Saturday, February 29th at 5:00 p.m. Razzle-Dazzle is a Guests / Members show that highlights the works of local and regional artists.

The guest artists include Molly Morning-Glory, an Asheville sculptor who began working with clay at the age of 4 in her parents’ pottery shop. She soon transitioned to sculptor and has won many awards and scholarships. Her work is in the permanent collection of North Carolina Pottery at the Mint Museum of Arts and Crafts in Charlotte.

Lance Brandenburg studied literature and art before becoming a chef. He did not leave art behind though and shows his Dutch Master style oil paintings at his restaurant Brandy’s On Main in Hendersonville.

Chuck Mattern is a contemporary artist whose works include colorful abstracts and mixed media. He is a resident artist in the River Arts District.

Member artists are Elena LeVine (acrylic), Lori Loftus (mixed media and eco dyeing), David Nielson (acrylic), Michelle Soule (ceramics) and Jane Oakes (acrylic).

Nancy Holland, President of TPS, says, “We are excited about our six remaining shows for 2020. There is something for everyone – guest artists, all members and a Juried Show in September.”

Tryon Painters and Sculptors is a non-profit member support organization with an art gallery and artisan gift shop located at 78 N. Trade Street in Tryon. In addition to art shows, TPS offers art classes and workshops in 2D and 3D pieces. The local and regional artists give us a talented pool from which to draw instructors.
