Words alone are not enough

Special cases

I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, prayers and well wishes for me and my precious Charma. I tried to make light of it but more often than not, I’ve been moved to tears. I am well aware that my girl Charma and I are not the only ones who’ve reached this point in our lives and this is most certainly not my first rodeo with a beloved animal. To have a whole community praying for me is certainly a first and I’ll say it again, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

Charma’s MRI came back without any fluids or masses on her brain. Thus far her diagnosis is what is called “Idiopathic Tremors”, which is almost exclusive to Boxers. I’ve seen films of others and there isn’t any cure but they may grow out of it.

Idiopathic means its, in a way, self induced and possible to grow out of it, although Charma is 6 years old.

We have sent a video to Courtney Sampson, her vet doctor at Upstate Vet Clinic, who fell head over heels for my Charma (that is her in the photo). Courtney has called twice more to check on her and has advised us to offer a treat to take her mind off the tremors (we use peanut butter, Charma loves it). We’ll be back next month and start weaning her off the medicines she is currently on.

Charma is still not out of the woods but I am hopeful. I haven’t forgotten my other kids in need, we will be helping another Boxer at Bonnie Brae, and I’ve already okayed at least $500 for its care.

I’ve been working with Landrum vet on Baby Calico, a little girl that has developed polyps in her ear. We’ve worked with mites and hopefully this will clear her up. Dr. Lara tells me she is too cute. Anyway, more in the future.

I’ve also helped with a stray one of my rescuers saved and are now seeking a home.

I’ve been checking on Mud at Foothills shelter and Cairo and Bali the twin toms at Landrum, all are my kids needing good homes.

Though I have been devoting most of my efforts for my Charma girl, I know there are many of you who have your own special 4 legged family members.

Charma will be going back next month for a re-check and evaluation, in the meantime, your prayers are working wonders both for her tremors and my heart.

Bless you all and thanks for listening.
