Garden Club to host “Kudzu Warrior” Thursday

Published 9:37 pm Tuesday, November 7, 2017

This Thursday, Nov. 9 at 1:30 p.m., Green Blades Garden Club will host its monthly program on combatting invasive plants with a presentation by Max Howes, Polk County’s “Kudzu Warrior.” He will share his expertise on how to eradicate harmful non-native species that threaten to take over our woodlands.

Howes is a habitat restoration and volunteer coordinator for Conserving Carolina’s AmeriCorps “Project Conserve.” Local projects include the two-acre lot owned by the town of Tryon (next to the IGA), and areas in the Norman Wilder Forest, both quite overgrown with kudzu.

Contact lynne@cielore.com for a free invitation to attend. This meeting will also include a discussion on local garden club projects such as the Park on Trade, upcoming programs, Christmas luncheon and next year’s fundraiser.
