Fifth graders at Saluda Elementary School are busy preparing for a year of learning about the enviroment – and getting their shoes dirty.

Muddy Sneakers is an enviromental education program for fifth grade students. Saluda students will take part in six Muddy Sneakers programs this year.

Carlisle Rankin, a Muddy Sneakers instructor, uses Saluda Elementary student Gabby Towne to demonstrate how to layer clothing for the Muddy Sneakers trips that fifth graders will go on during the school year.

Carlisle Rankin, a Muddy Sneakers instructor, recently visited Ginger Rackley’s class to review what students should bring for each program and showed the students the journals they will be using during each outing.
