GREEN CREEK—The Friends of Ag Breakfast will welcome spring with its upcoming event on April 17, 2024, at 7 a.m. in the Green Creek Community Center at 25 Shields Drive, Tryon.

The free event will feature Dawn Jordan, the Ag Economic Development Director, who will showcase the efforts put in by the office to encourage, support, partner and maintain agriculture enterprises in Polk County.

Polk County’s Office of Agricultural Economic Development focuses on preserving the county’s rural nature by ensuring the continuous sustainability of farming in the region. The AED collaborates with farmers to enhance the profitability of current farms, tracks food trends to spot new market prospects, and safeguards operational farmlands in the county to guarantee that the upcoming generation of farmers has a place to establish themselves.

Attendees will be treated to a complimentary country breakfast that will be crafted with fresh ingredients from local farmers, growers, and other food producers. AgSouth Farm Credit is the sponsor for this month’s FOA breakfast. In line with FOA’s commitment to sustainability, attendees are encouraged to bring their coffee mugs, plates, and flatware.

The Friends of Ag Breakfast has been a long-standing tradition in the area for the past 12 years and is not just a breakfast. It’s a platform to bring together local farmers, growers, and agricultural experts, showcasing Polk County’s rich agricultural heritage. It’s also an opportunity to meet neighbors and connect with community support agencies that are here to help maintain the beautiful, rural agricultural county.

Attendees are requested to bring their coffee mugs and plates. The Friends of Agriculture Breakfast is held on the third Wednesday of every month from November through May.
