TRYON—Symphony Akinloye might not be out of college yet, but that hasn’t stopped the rising senior at Spelman College from putting her future degree in economics to good use. Akinloye recently opened the Creators Vault, upstairs at 25 S. Trade St., along with a team including her mother, Tanisha Twitty Akinloye, and cousin Key’la Twitty. 

The Creators Vault is “an African-inspired, creative house where artists of all disciplines converge, collaborate, and innovate,” according to its website. The one-of-a-kind establishment blends the worlds of art, fashion, and community. It serves as a boutique and an art cafe, offering a working environment for patrons to immerse themselves in engaging conversations and a place where artists can work on their craft and connect with like-minded individuals in a safe space. 

The boutique showcases a curated collection of art and fashion, including original pieces by Tanisha. 

Symphony designed the art cafe, which includes an art menu, a design lab that can be rented out, and, most valuable of all, access to her advice and expertise in the ever-changing worlds of marketing and art. 

“This is a welcoming, safe space that embraces all art forms, from fashion to graphic design, podcasting, photography, and textile art,” Symphony says. “Thanks to a Comcast Rise Grant, our design lab is well-equipped, and I’m available to advise and assist patrons in their art projects, creating pitch decks and marketing their work.”

The art cafe’s menu boasts a variety of unique and engaging classes, including collage, watercolor art, textile art, ceramic art and open studio sessions where artists can bring their own supplies. The Creators Vault welcomes walk-ins, but reservations are encouraged to ensure a personalized experience. 

Tanisha says she is extremely proud of her daughter’s newest venture. 

“When she was in my womb, I knew she would do great things in this world, and I’m so glad for her to be here in the area I grew up and to be able to support her,” Tanisha says.

The Creators Vault has received support from JP Morgan Chase & Co., Comcast, Black Girl Ventures, Empowering Beauty, and more. Symphony invites anyone interested to stop by and check out the space, order a delectable art experience, or design one for themselves.
