TRYON—With a love for history, extensive research, and a vivid imagination, bestselling author John Cribb has transformed Abraham Lincoln into an approachable flesh and blood man. John will discuss his historical novels, “The Rail Splitter” and “Old Abe,” at the next Live@Lanier, set for Sunday, March 24, at 3 p.m. at the Tryon Fine Arts Center. An author reception follows at the Lanier Library.

John will share the thoughts, feelings and experiences of a passionately alive person on a journey from a log cabin to the Senate, White House, through the Civil War, and to Ford’s Theatre. There will also be insights into Stephen Douglas, Mary Todd, Willie, Grant and an assassin who failed.

Tryon Fine Arts Center is located at 34 Melrose Avenue in Tryon. Lanier Library is next door. Public admission is free thanks to support from the Kirby Endowment Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation.
