LANDRUM—The Landrum Cardinals basketball teams had a mixed week, with the boys’ team finishing their season with a tough loss while the girls’ team continued their dominant run in the playoffs.

On Tuesday, the boys’ team defeated the Mid-Carolina Rebels (9-15) 86-49 at home. Led by Franklin Davis and Benett Edwards, who dropped 15 and 20 points respectively, the Cardinals pulled away in the second half with 51 points. AJ Lindsey also contributed with 13 points.

The win added to Landrum’s impressive record of 22-6 this season. However, the boys’ team’s season came to an end on Friday as they lost their second-round matchup to the number one seed in their bracket, Fox Creek High School (20-10) 44-49 on the road. Despite Davis’ 21 points, the Cardinals finished with a 23-7 overall record, marking their fourth year in a row with 20+ wins and their fourth straight region championship, a school record.
