Annual Big Brother Big Sister fundraising event set for March 2

POLK COUNTY—The annual Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2024 fundraiser is set to take place on Saturday, March 2, at Tarheel Lanes in Hendersonville.

The event, which helps to support youth in Polk and Rutherford County with caring mentors and quality programming, has opened up team sign-ups on its website https://secure.qgiv.com/event/bfks2024/ and encourages online fundraising through its secure platform.

Teams of four to five bowlers are welcome to participate in the event, regardless of skill level. Each team member must raise a minimum of $50 to participate, and teams will be assigned a 2-hour time slot to bowl on March 2.

This year’s event theme is ‘Support Your Sport!’ Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite jersey, hat or other sports-related accessories that represent their favorite sport, team, player or activity.

“This fundraiser is the main one to help fund the entire year for us at BBBS,” said board member Bill Smith. “Fundraising has been difficult in recent years, and thirty-eight local children depend on this program. A donation is always welcome even if you don’t have time to volunteer or go bowling.”

The fundraiser also invites participants to invite their ‘Little,’ or mentee, to join their team. Littles must turn in the same minimum donation of $50, though many Bigs (mentors) cover this cost for their Littles. Teams can use the online fundraising platform to quickly email friends and family to solicit support for their team.

The event organizers are also seeking sponsors for the event. The Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser is an important event that helps to support youth in the community, and the organizers are grateful for all support. Checks can be mailed to BBBS at PO BOX 1140, Tryon, NC, 28782.
