The Landrum Cardinals opened their season with a strong victory against the Berea Bulldogs in a non-conference match at Cardinal Stadium on Friday night. The win marked the first game of new coach Brent Bridges’s tenure, one in which the Cardinals were able to pull away in the second half to secure the 36-7 win.

Senior Colton Link led the way for the Cardinals, scoring three touchdowns in an impressive showing. Sophomore Tye Foster also contributed to the scoring effort, intercepting a pass for a touchdown late in the game to secure the win. The Landrum defense held strong throughout the game, led by sophomore linebacker AJ Lindsay.

The Cardinals seemed to grow into their newly installed spread offense as the game went on. Junior quarterback Titus Poore led the charge, and the team’s well-rounded performance bodes well for the remainder of the season. Coach Bridges expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating that this was the first win of many for the Landrum Cardinals.
