Trakas, a well-known local architect, worked as a partner to community icon Holland Brady before Brady’s death in 2013. Trakas studied architecture at Clemson University, and has worked in the field for over 20 years. In addition to this professional calling, Dean is an avid fan of downtown Tryon and a constant student of the town’s unique history.

Over the years, Tryon was the home base for any number of talented architects, which was quite unusual for the town’s size.  One can readily see the influences of these architects driving through the residential nooks and crannies of our area. This is no less true today as you can readily see the influence of our contemporaries; Trakas, John Walters, Paul Johannsen, Kelly Murphy and others.

The talk will take place at the Tryon Presbyterian Church, designed by Holland Brady. The program will begin at 5 p.m. in the church sanctuary, and admission is free and all are invited. For more information, contact the Tryon History Museum at (828) 440-1116.
