Fine Silver Metal Clay Earrings Workshop with Susan Brooks set for July 15, 16

TRYON—Tryon Arts and Crafts school is offering a unique two-day jewelry workshop on July 15 and July 16.

Instructor Susan Brook says no previous experience is required to participate in the workshop, where students will learn the basics of working with fine silver (.999FS) metal clay and create multiple pairs of earrings using a variety of techniques. Each pair of earrings will be unique and crafted using the student’s imagination.

On the first day of the workshop, students will create their earrings and refine them for firing. The number of earrings produced will depend on the size of the design and the student’s working speed. The instructor will then take the dried pieces home to be fired.

Students will polish their pieces on day two and add patina if desired, before attaching ear wires and taking their new earrings home.

”The workshop is an opportunity for students to express their individual personalities and style while having fun in the process,” Brook says.

The workshop fee is $200 for members and $230 for non-members, with a materials fee of $75. The fee includes 25 grams of Fine Silver Metal Clay and the use of student tool kits and multiple tools provided by the teacher.

Brook’s love of jewelry and gourd art inspires her work, which emphasizes natural elements such as pearls, silver and gemstones.

The workshop will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. All are welcome to participate. For more information and to register for the workshop, visit tryonartsandcrafts.org.
