The Polk County Community Foundation sponsors the event which features demonstrations from ceramic artists, live music, lawn games and youth crafts. Food trucks Nom Sense and Frozen Frog will be on-site, and Mill Spring Farm Store will also have a table to feature area vendors in a bit called “Taste Buds.”

A highlight of the event will be the Empty Bowls Throwing Competition which will take place in support of Thermal Belt Outreach and its fundraiser of the same name.

The Rich Nelson Band is a local band known for performing original music with a wide range. The band consists of Rich Nelson on guitar and vocals, Jeff Manson on bass and harmonies and Rob Driscoll on drums.

“We write, record and perform original rock music,” Nelson says. “There’s quite a range from upbeat songs to more progressive stuff and mid and slow-tempo stuff. You can hear it all at richnelsonband.com or on Spotify or iTunes.”

Nelson expressed his excitement for the event and encouraged everyone to come out. He has taught summer art classes for youth at Tryon Arts and Crafts School, and his wife Kim took ceramics classes with Jim Cullen at the school. This show is the first time the Rich Nelson Band has played at a Westside Mixer event.
