LYNN – The Carolina Dragonfly Boutique at 2060 Lynn Road, Suite 3, Tryon, will celebrate its 2nd anniversary this weekend on Saturday, March 18, along with the launching of their new website.

Two years ago, owner Sarah Hinson, of Mill Spring, left her career in hospital administration and opened Carolina Dragonfly Boutique in Valley Plaza. Her vision was to open a shop that had something for everyone, catering to women of all ages and body types while also carrying items that would make great gifts for children and men.

“I’d worked in healthcare for seventeen years and enjoyed it,” says Hinson. “Then the pandemic hit, and it served as a catalyst for me because I realized I had not been getting to spend enough time with my daughter. The boutique had been something I’d wanted to do for a decade, and with the support of my husband, I finally made the jump.”

She named the boutique Carolina Dragonfly because the dragonfly had always had significance to her personally and through her faith. She adds, “God has opened many doors so I could do this.” Hinson’s entire family even helps out, including her mother, sister, and her dad, who built some of the shelves.

The boutique sells a wide variety of products and fashions perfect for any occasion, whether it be hats for the Steeplechase or something new to wear for Easter. They have dresses and clothes from a range of designers, including Judy Blue denim, and carry several brands of shoes, such as Corky’s Footwear.

Carolina Dragonfly Boutique has locally-made items from Tryon-based Words by Heart, which creates hand-stamped jewelry. The store also features FarmHouse Fresh organic-vegan skincare products. Hinson sells only products she would be comfortable with her or her daughter using.

“The boutique is continually growing, and I consider it a work in progress,” says Hinson. “We are adding new items and vendors weekly, along with lots of new stuff for the spring and summer months. I encourage everyone to stop in and check out the shop.”
