The Landrum Cardinals (24-3,10-0) started their 2A playoff run with a runaway 95-58 home win over the Mid-Carolina Rebels (9-18, 2-6) out of Prosperity, S. C. They will play the winner of Silver Bluff and Columbia, with the time of the game still to be announced.

The Cards were awarded a 1-seed after winning the conference title with an undefeated record in 2A Region 1. And they will be looking to repeat as Upper State Champions and return to the 2A playoffs semi-finals.

Sophomore Franklin Davis took home All-State honors, averaging 19.9 points per game and leading all of South Carolina 2A in field goals, 3-point field goals, and total points scored. His 34 points against Mid-Carolina made him the 13th Cardinal to score 1,000 points in a career.

Wednesday night, the Landrum Lady Cardinals (18-6, 8-2) kicked off the South Carolina 2A playoffs with a 62-39 blowout home victory over Ninety Six Lady Wildcats (10-7, 5-3).

The Lady Cardinals received a 1-seed in the Upper State Girls Basketball Tournament after winning a share of the 2A Region 1 conference title with Blacksburg. The Lady Cardinals are looking to make another run in the playoffs after reaching the Upper State finals last year, where they lost to eventual champion Christ Church.

The Cardinals Kaylee Cortez joined Davis with All-State honors. She was named to the 2A first-team all-state team finishing the season with a 15.9 scoring average and 3 steals per game.
