FOOTHILLS–Euphoria Stokley of Landrum has dedicated herself to helping children reach their full potential.
Through her education and family consulting business, Head, Heart, and Home Consulting, Stokely works with parents and children ages 3 to 6 to prepare young minds for life inside and outside the classroom.
She often works with children who are homeschooled or preparing for public school, on everything from practical life lessons like folding laundry and doing the dishes to emphasizing the importance of being outdoors where they can learn by inspecting nature.
Originally from Greer, Stokely returned to the area after a decade in Charleston, where she earned a Master’s degree. Since then, she has specialized in teaching one-on-one and group lessons to young children in person and on Zoom, concentrating on the concepts of Montessori education, which focuses on children’s natural interests and activities rather than formal teaching methods. The Montessori method was first developed by Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator.
“My goal is to bring a whole child approach into the home that concentrates on head, heart, and health,” Stokely says. “I use Montessori concepts, outdoor learning, and other ideas I’ve been trained in, such as conscious discipline.”
Stokely uses several conscious discipline techniques that integrate social-emotional learning and self-regulation, allowing parents to spend less time policing behavior and more time teaching vital life skills.
“I worked in a private Montessori and still teach group lessons, but I prefer working in the home when possible with parents and children,’ Stokely adds. “There is often valuable information in the household that can help with education.”
