On Friday, October 21, Operation Hope will provide an opportunity for community members to tour the area’s newest mobile medical facility. The ReGenesis Mobile Medical Center, a “high-quality, primary care medical care center on wheels,” will be set up in the parking lot of Burke’s Outlet from 5 to 7 p.m., located at 209 W. Rutherford St. in Landrum.

The center will soon begin providing crisis assistance and accessible health care through ReGenesis Health Care. The public can take a tour of the mobile medical center on Friday, as well as meet the medical team, learn about services that will be offered, and receive free blood pressure and vision screenings.

Operation Hope, a nonprofit outreach ministry that has served the area for many years, will have a table set up to share with the public how they are evolving into a community resource center. They will also have free taco soup for those with an appetite.

“Operation Hope has worked to find the best fit for Landrum, as far as a medical provider,” says Operation Hope Executive Director Susan Tompkins.  “We’ve been working with numerous partners, including ReGenesis, which has clinics throughout the Upstate. As we expand, we’ll be able to do more for the local community.”

Beginning November 9, the ReGenesis Mobile Medical Center will be available on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, from 10 a.m to 12 p.m and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. They plan to add additional days and hours to the twice-a-month schedule as patient numbers increase. ReGenesis accepts and files with almost every insurance company, including Medicare and Medicaid. They also have a sliding pay scale and offer assistance for the uninsured, and no one will be turned away.

Those interested in signing up as new patients will be able to do so at Friday’s event. For more information, please call Susan Tompkins with Operation Hope at 864-457-1005.
