The Animals of Red Bull Run: Flora and Fauna exhibit opened at the Tryon Fine Arts Center on Thursday, Sept. 8. The show is a collaborative work between the Red Bull Run equine sanctuary and photographer Monica Stevenson, along with her artistic partners Preston Wainwright, Thomas Ignatious and Sean Smith.

The photos feature subjects with names like Twinkle and Ella Grace. The residents of the Red Bull Run, a home for special needs equines, are finally getting the spotlight they so clearly deserve. The four-legged models certainly love the camera.

The sanctuary in Green Creek provides care for rescued, abused, and neglected equines and other animals, giving them a lifelong home.

Monica, a commercial photographer and creative director by trade, finds equine photography to be a creative outlet from her usual work. With the help of her partners, they have created works with large format digital cameras and hand printed, adding in details “that make up the natural world that is Red Bull Run.”

Monica’s work will be on display to view and purchase from September 8 – October 29. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., on the 4th Friday of each month from 5 – 7 p.m., and for events.

On September 29, Sanctuary at Red Bell Run will present “Sanctuary in Bloom at TFAC, an evening of art and wine with silent and live auctions to raise funds for the care of their equines and community outreach programs.
