“Jimmy was a loyal and devoted member of the Landrum Lions Club and a huge supporter and worker at Operation Hope,” a release from the club said. “Thanks be to God for Jim Ashmore! We miss him!”

The lions club conducts an annual Christmas Spirit fund to assist those in need in the Landrum area. Businesses and individuals are asked to make financial donations to the special fund to support projects at Operation Hope.

Treasurer Bob Walker said the needs of those who are experiencing hardships during the holiday season are many.

“The Landrum Lions Club members feel that now is the time that we can step forward to provide aid to help these individuals,” Walker said. “We should be thankful for the many blessings we have and for the opportunity to assist Operation Hope as they provide support to the needy. All funds donated this year will be given to Operation Hope in member of Lions Jimmy Ashmore, who was a committed supporter of Operation Hope.”

Anyone wishing to make a donation in Ashmore’s memory to the Christmas Spirit Fund can mail a check to Landrum Lions Club, P.O. Box 262, Landrum, S.C. 29356. Donations should be delivered by Dec. 6.

Donations can also be dropped off at Landrum Insurance Agency, located at 104 South Shamrock Ave., Landrum.
