The North Carolina Department of Transportation is closing 0.22 miles from the Henderson County line in Saluda for general maintenance to replace a failed pipe under US 176 at 477 US 176, Saluda.

The detour will be from US 25 North to Interstate I-26 to Ozone Drive south to US 176 East of Saluda, according to the NCDOT.

The detour will be from US 25, 1.6 miles North to Interstate 26 East, 5 miles, 1.2 miles to Ozone Drive South to US 176 East of Saluda. The total detour length is 7.8 miles.

Saluda commissioners asked about the detour during Monday’s meeting. Saluda Mayor Fred Baisden said that the NCDOT will have people there to direct traffic.

Saluda Police Chief Charles Conner said the state will try to send people down US 25 from Interstate 26 and local people will likely go Macedonia Road.

Anyone with questions about the detour can call the local NCDOT number at 828-894-8980.
