Markell Chawain Lipscomb

Markell Chawain Lipscomb was born on Dec. 21, 2000, to Chakya Wilkins and Maurice Lipscomb of Tryon, North Carolina.

He was a rising senior at Polk County High School. He was a member of Saint Luke CME Church where he served on the usher board. 

Markell went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the age of 17. He leaves to cherish his fond memories of his mother, Chakya Wilkins and his father, Maurice Lipscomb (JaVona); two sisters, Terrica Wilkins and Kaiyla Wilkins; two brothers, Marquise Lipscomb and Jahkeem Lipscomb; maternal grandmother, Cynthia Wilkins; maternal grandfather, Harrison McDowell; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Barbara “Honey” Fox of the home; uncles, Marshall (Chamelle) Lipscomb, Josh Wilkins and Gary Wilkins, and an aunt, Elaine Wilkins. Also surviving is a great host of friends and family.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Helen Wilkins; a grandfather, Robert Fox; aunts, Demetra Wilkins and Karen Glenn (Katie Bell, Kizzy); and uncles, Jason Fox and Terry Wilkins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon.

Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Tryon.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon.
