A warm afternoon did not stop a large group of golfers from gathering Thursday at Links O’ Tryon to take part in the 13th Annual Polk County High School Athletic Fundraiser.

The four-man captain’s choice tournament began after a filling lunch, and continued throughout the afternoon, with prizes awarded at the end of the day’s play.

Finishing atop the competition were:

First place: Ryan Wall, Travis Aldred, Brian Jones and Wayne Jones

Second place: Bill Miller, Todd Murphy, Don Hoffman and Aaron Greene

Third place: Bruce Fisher, Robert Cochran, Lionel Gilbert and Ronnie Mutauck

Women’s Flight: Jessie Stewart, Jessica Justice, Patty Aldred and Stephanie Luedi

Closest to the Pin: B.G. Edwards (Hole 7), Rusty Van Voorhis (Hole 12) and Dale Love (Hole 15)

“We sincerely appreciate all of our tournament sponsors and players for being a part of this event and for supporting Wolverine athletics,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene.
