Book study series March 22
The next session in the series, “Redemption in Contemporary Fiction” will be on Thursday, March 22 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross. The book for discussion is “H is for Hawk” by Helen McDonald.
A young woman’s grief over the early, untimely death of her father leads her into a kind of madness, which she copes with by training a goshawk for falconry. The hawk has its own kind of lunacy, and McDonald’s prose seems to allow us into its consciousness.
The bird is finally untethered, allowing McDonald to regain her own place on earth. This deeply felt memoir portrays the struggle to find our place, whatever adversity we face.
All are invited.
