Cardinal women ready to capture second in region

After a tough loss to visiting Christ Church Episcopal, Landrum’s women missed a chance for the region 1-AA basketball title, and now must jump through hoops to claim second.

In a case of two fine teams fighting it out, CCE (8-0 in the region) topped the Cards, 60-44, dropping Landrum to 17-4 overall, and 6-2 in region play.

“CCES has first place,” observed Cardinal head coach Deon Brice. “If we can beat Blacksburg Thursday, we will have second place and first round of the playoffs at home.  If we lose Thursday (February 8), we have to play Blacksburg again on Friday (February 9), for second, at Chesnee.”

Against CCE, Landrum’s Lindsey Hardin outscored everyone in the gym, with 28 points, including five three-pointers. Teammate Sarah Price notched six points.

Tuesday’s game is at Landrum; Thursday’s is at Blacksburg.
