Cardinals to visit football rival St. Joseph’s Catholic

Previous records mean little when conference rivals meet. Such will be the case this evening, when Landrum’s Cardinals visit St. Joseph’s Catholic for a conference football game in Greenville.

Each team is 0-1 in the conference. St. Joe’s is 3-3 overall, and while Landrum is 1-5, the Cardinals are coming off a narrow (36-29) loss to Chesnee, in which they spotted Chesnee a 21-0 lead, then nearly ran the Eagles out of Landrum Stadium, outscoring their guests, 29-15, in the second half.

Landrum head coach Jason Farmer respects the Knights, whom he described as “not bad,” with “two good running backs, and a good little quarterback.”

This game “is a good challenge for our kids,” Farmer continued. “We played well at the right time last week.” He noted that, as usual, the Cardinals are up for the challenge.

Last week against Chesnee, Landrum quarterback Michael Clark rolled up more than respectable passing yardage, while Dalton Kuykendall and Austin Hutchins helped round out the offense.

Opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
