Alm earns MVP honors at Georgia youth baseball tournament

Tryon Elementary student Gunnar Alm had a weekend to remember on the baseball diamond.

Playing with the Rawlings Stars Prospects National team, Alm earned most valuable player honors as the team won the Perfect Game Super25 10U Georgia Super Qualifier in Carterville, Ga.

The Myrtle Beach-based Prospects National team earned a national tournament berth with the win, defeating East Cobb Colt 45s Navy 16-6 in the championship game.

Polk County’s Gunnar Alm (with his father, Billy) earned MVP honors at a Perfect Game youth baseball tournament in Georgia.

Alm finished the tournament 8-for-11 with two home runs.

The Rawlings team includes players from throughout the Carolinas. Micah Simpson of Fletcher is the only other Western North Carolina player on the team.

Alm is the son of Polk County head baseball coach Billy Alm and head girls basketball coach Brandy Alm.
