On Monday, May 1, retired chef John Cappadona treated Columbus Fire Department firefighters and their families to a special dinner of chicken schnitzel and pork schnitzel, along with mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon bits, and salad. It was “dinner for 25,” with generous portions eagerly eaten by the participants. Capppadona said his brother-in-law had been a firefighter, and this “is my way of giving back.” Cappadona, originally from northern New Jersey, has lived in this area for 26 years. He is a certified chef from the American Culinary Federation. He plans to prepare similar meals for other fire department personnel in the area in upcoming months.

Cappadona prepares one of the many plates of schnitzel, mashed potatoes, salad, and green beans with bacon bits.
