In 15 games, only two teams have defeated Landrum’s women, who are 13-2 overall, and 2-1 in the region, after Tuesday night’s 65-41 region loss to the visiting Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers. In spite of the setback, CCE might have provided the kind of workout the Cardinals need for post-season play. “Tonight, we mentally broke down at times,” Cardinal head coach Deon Brice admitted, but his team held the Cavaliers close in the early going, down by just 19-16, after the first quarter. Here, the Cardinals’ Sara Price (#5) soars toward the hoop. Price contributed four points, and excellent defense.

Some cool foul shooting near the end of the game helped give Landrum’s men a 69-61 region win over visiting Christ Church Episcopal on Tuesday evening, Jan. 17. The Cardinals are now 11-5 overall, and 2-1 in region play. While the Cardinals held a 19-9 lead after eight minutes, the Cavaliers fought back, outscoring Landrum, 23-12, in the third quarter. Here, Landrum’s Easton Jenkins (#10 with ball) grabs an important rebound. On Friday, Jan 20, the Cardinals varsity men and women will host Greer Middle College, with women’s play set to begin at 6 p.m., and the men’s game to follow. (Photos by Mark Schmerling)
