Warnings of a rainy Friday from Hurricane Matthew moved Landrum’s game against visiting St. Joseph
‘s Catholic from Friday, Oct. 7 to Thursday, Oct. 6. After a slow start by both teams, St. Joseph’s built a 14-7 lead, but the Cardinals scored the next 21 points, to win, 21-14, and to improve to 3-4 overall, and 1-1 in the region. With visiting St. Joseph’s Catholic leading 14-7 late in the third quarter, Landrum quarterback Turner Ussery hit Kericho McAuley (#14), who outran his defender Nick Dew (#31) of St. Joseph’s. McAuley ran the ball in for a TD. Landrum added the extra point to tie the game, and went on to win the region contest, 21-14. (Photo by Mark Schmerling)
