A disappointing 2-0 loss to R-S Central ended Polk County’s varsity women’s soccer season Saturday, May 14 in round two of the state soccer playoffs.

Missed opportunities spelled the difference, keeping the Wolverines from advancing to round three. Narrow misses, combined with fine saves by the Hilltoppers’ goaltender, left Polk with a rare scoreless effort.

Polk had entered the match at 15-4 overall. The Hilltoppers brought a 14-4 record. The match was held at R-S Central.

The Hilltoppers scored a goal in each half, their second coming on a penalty kick. The kick followed a penalty on a Polk player who tripped, and apparently pushed an R-S player inadvertently.
