Continuing a tradition of some ten years, members of the North Carolina Chapter 265 of Korean War Veterans honored veterans of that war who are buried at Lebanon United Methodist Church, Big Level Road, near Pea Ridge. Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Bryant H. Womack is one of those servicemen. Womack, who was born in that area, served as a medic, and was killed while heroically administering aid to his fallen comrades on March 12, 1952. His sister, Rachel Elliott, who still lives in the area, placed flowers at her brother’s grave during the ceremony on April 24. Col. Lance C. Raney, commanding officer of the Womack Army Medical Center, Ft. Bragg, is shown at Elliott’s left. (Photo by Mark Schmerling)
