Tying his season’s best effort (1:56.9) in the 800-meter run, Polk County’s Sean Doyle finished a very close second in the April 23 Blue Ridge Classic track and field meet, in a field of at least 80 teams.

In men’s pole vault, the Wolverines’ Jake Justice, now ranked number one in the Western Highlands Conference, and third in the state among AA schools, cleared 12 feet, six inches.

“He (Justice) did an outstanding job for us,” remarked Wolverine head coach, Alan Peoples. Justice’s great effort was good for fourth place in the meet.

“There were some good people there,” Peoples said in understatement.
