Polk County High School’s Mark Mazzilli, Konner Scruggs and Tyler Campbell were named as All Western Highlands Conference baseball players for the recent 2015 season. All three were varsity players.

In addition, Mazilli, who hit .403 for the season, and was the Wolverines’ only .400 hitter, also received a Gold Glove award. Other varsity Gold Gloves went to Daniel Painter, Morgan Groves, Holden Owens and Scruggs.

Bryce Martin, Scruggs and Mazzilli shared Most Valuable Player honors.

The following varsity players were also honored: Tyler Campbell (Team Award), Mazzilli (Batting Title), Noah Howell (Teammate of the Year), Martin (Best Competition Record), Dequan Gary and Groves (Coach’s Award).

In addition, Martin made the top five in Wolverine history in the following career categories: third in career hits (93), tied for fourth in stolen bases (30), and tied for third in runs scored (80).

Martin’s career 93 hits, and Mazilli’s 62 put them in the career 50-hit club. Mazzilli’s .403 batting average put him in select company in the team’s .400 batting average club. Martin’s run scoring and base-stealing put him in the 50 runs scored and 30 stolen bases clubs.

Junior Varsity awards went to Jared Wolfe and Chris Phipps (Most Improved), Tyler Harris (Most Outstanding Pitcher) and Zane Johnson (Teammate of the Year).
