That win boosted the Wolverines’ mark to 8-3 overall. They were 4-0 in conference action.

New Wolverine coach Molly Corhn was obviously pleased with her team’s effort, but also noted that early in the third game (No more games were needed, as each match is decided on a best-of-five basis), “We played kind of slow.” Corhn pointed out that some Wolverine serves were off-target. However, she also noted, “Sometimes, we start kind of slow.”

However, she added, “We picked it right up to where it’s supposed to be.”

In the first and second games, Polk never let the Trailblazers get close, but the story was different in the third contest, in which Polk trailed by scores of 3-2, 4-2 and 7-4.

Then, the Wolverines came back steadily at first, and then in a rush, as both teams made great saves on spikes, and kept volleys going. Polk edged ahead 8-7, 11-7, 16-10, 16-13, 19-13, and finished with a flurry.

On Tuesday, the Wolverines trounced Owen, 3-0, by scores of 25-5, 25-6 and 25-8, to up their season mark to 9-3 overall, and 5-0 in the conference.

Yesterday (Thursday), Polk played at Hendersonville (Results not available at press time). Next Tuesday, the Wolverines visit Madison, and then host West Henderson on Wednesday.
