Landrum Middle School baseball loses 6-5 in extra inning

The Landrum Cardinals’ Middle School baseball team played against Lockhart Middle School on Wednesday, March 19.

After two scoreless innings, the Red Devils scored three runs in the top of third and it stayed that way until the Cardinals tied up the game in the bottom of the sixth with Dalton Kuykendall, Zander Steele and Adam Powell crossing the plate for the Cardinals.

The game ended in a 3-3 tie after the two-hour dead ball rule.

The officials agreed to let the teams play another inning.

Lockhart, with the top of their lineup coming up in the seventh, scored three runs.

The Cardinals came in from the field and scored two runs. The game ended with Landrum losing by one run with two  Cardinals stranded on base.

The final score was Landrum 5 and Lockhart 6.

Dalton Kuykendall led the Cardinals with two hits.

Zander Steele, Adam Powell, Alex Hawk, Cree Waters, Joshua Johnson and Easton Jenkins had one hit each.

Dalton Kuykendall scored twice and Zander Steele, Adam Powell and Easton Jenkins plated one run each.

Cree Waters was pitching a really good game when he had to be relieved after two and two-thirds innings for a hurt ankle.

Zander Steele came in to pitch in relief in the top of the third inning through the seventh inning throwing 60 plus pitches, proving to be a workhorse.

Isaiah Adderholdt came in to record the last out.
